Winter Activities in Westfield, NJ
Westfield, NJ is a beautiful, family-friendly town.
But winters in New Jersey can start to feel long when outdoor activities are limited. What’s a cooped-up family to do? How can you try something different on date night? We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite Westfield winter activities.
1. Take a Coffee Cupping class at Boxwood Coffee Roasters.
For those who love a good cup of coffee: Stop by Boxwood Coffee Roasters every Saturday until March 14th, 2020 from 1 pm – 2 pm for a workshop centered on understanding the process of roasting green coffee beans.
Join shop roaster Hayden in creating Boxwood’s signature blends for daily use in its shop.
2. Get ingredients at Trader Joe’s to make a special dinner at home.
Staying home becomes an occasion when you decide to make a night of it. So grab some ingredients—perhaps the kind that you usually reserve for dinner parties—and whip up something delicious in your own open concept kitchen.
(If this doesn’t sound appealing because you’re not happy with your kitchen…you might want to give us a call to talk about a custom home or a renovation!)
3. Not sure how to make that meal? Take a cooking class at Classic Thyme.
At Classic Thyme, culinary professionals teach a wide diversity of classes from Culinary Basics to Advanced Cake Decorating.
If you’re looking to try something new, try one of their themed classes on anything from Italian Boot Camps, Knife Skills, and Couples Classes to making Dim Sum and Seasonal Grilling.
Visit their class calendar to browse options and book a class. They even do kids’ birthday parties.
4. Browse for a new read at The Town Book Store.
The Town Book Store is one of the last independent booksellers in Union County, NJ, and a mainstay since it opened in 1934. Bring the kids or choose something for yourself…and bring it back home to read in front of the fireplace.
Or check their website for special events to get out of the house and into a warm, welcoming piece of Westfield history.
5. Relive your childhood or try a new game at YESTERcades Arcade.
How about something that the adults and kids will both love? Pay by the hour or for the whole day at YESTERcades. The arcade has a wide variety of classic arcade games and pinball machines including Space Invaders, Pac-Man, NBA Jam and Street Fighter.
Stocked with top titles for Atari 2600 and the original NES, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U, and more—you’ll never run out of new games to try!
6. Visit the Evalyn Dunn Gallery and create a gallery wall.
Browse for art at the Evelyn Dunn Gallery or bring your own for framing. The gallery offers modern works by international artists, with conservation and framing available.
Pick a wall that’s feeling a little plain and put together a grid of framed pieces to create interest and showcase your family’s unique taste. It’s a project that can include everything from kids’ art to that limited edition print you picked up in Prague.
Thinking about renovating or upgrading to a custom home? We know and love Westfield.
And we’d love to talk about your project. Browse our project section to get inspired or give us a call.
