The Benefits of Building a Custom Home

The Benefits of Building a Custom Home
10/10/2017

There are a lot of points to consider when you’re in the market for a new home.

If you have endless time, you can browse listing after listing, searching for a home that works for your family. If you have plenty of patience, you can find something with good bones in a great location and get to work on a renovation plan.

The dream option? A completely custom home.

If you have a dream, if you want what you want with no room for compromise, if you’re after high quality, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship and you don’t want to settle for less, than you’re in the market for a custom-built home.

I understand that it takes a lot just to get to the point where you’re ready to call a custom home builder with a preliminary list of questions. If you’re thinking about building custom, you’ve probably been gathering information about the advantages and disadvantages and forming your own opinion. But from my professional point of view, here are the top five best reasons to go with a custom home:

1. Custom homes give you exactly what you want.

Chances are, with an existing home, you’ll be inheriting a floor plan that isn’t perfect. But by building a brand new custom home, you’ll have the exact space your family desires. We’ll consider everything—from how you function day to day to the little quirks that will make a home truly exceptional for you.

There’s no settling or reconfiguring and crossing your fingers while you wait to see if a wall is load bearing. You can have that perfect floor plan right from the get go.

2. A custom home is exactly where you want it.

How many times have you seen a perfectly lovely home in a terrible location? Or found the perfect location, but the house is all wrong? Choosing your own lot means you get the house you want in your ideal location, and it can even be situated perfectly to take advantage of the best light. Production homes and existing homes are not built with your family’s needs in mind.

We specialize in building homes in desirable areas of New Jersey—specifically in Westfield, Cranford, Scotch Plains, Summit, Clark, Watchung, Berkeley Heights, New Providence and Mountainside. These are beautiful towns. A custom home means that our clients get to decide where they want to live first. They then get to decide how they want to live—from layout to cabinet finishes to options for outdoor entertainment.

3. A well-built custom home is modern and efficient, with no surprises.

Existing homes show the general wear and tear of the previous owners, typically require more maintenance, and could potentially have very expensive hidden problems. When you build custom, you’re investing in a structurally sound, energy efficient home that’s built with top quality materials selected by you, resulting in lower utility bills and increased peace of mind.

At Premier, we take this further by building homes with thoughtful features like pre-piping for a future second water heater. Contact us for more details on our unique approach to building custom homes.

4. It’s a solid investment.

Why pay for features or upgrades that you don’t want or need? With custom homes in general, you have the complete freedom to choose where to invest your dollars. And with Premier in particular, we build the home on paper first, so you’ll know exactly what you’re going to spend. I believe in transparent pricing with no hidden costs and no unwelcome surprises at the end. You can learn more about my Instant Equity program here.

5. It’s a lasting legacy for you and your family.

Your dream home should be a reflection of your family’s current lifestyle and needs, and also have the ability to adjust going into the future. With careful consideration, the best materials available and the highest quality craftsmanship, building a custom home is building the hallmark for your family’s future—possibly for generations to come.

Are you thinking about building a custom home? Do you already have one? What are YOUR reasons?

I’ve been on the fence about whether it would be better to have a custom home built or not. This makes a good point about why it’s better, especially that part about how existing homes typically require more maintenance. That’s a good enough reason for me to have a custom house built.

Thanks for confirming that custom-made homes can guarantee an investment that is well-structured and more energy-efficient. Before getting married, my boyfriend and I wants to invest and build our own semi-mansion to secure our shelter for the coming years. When we meet tonight for dinner, I’ll share your article with my boyfriend so he can think of our gameplan and design for our prospect home.
